Arachnophobia Courses
Arachnophobia is one of the biggest phobias in the world, there many reasons for this, social media, learnt behaviour, films and more. We have made it our mission at BEECHE (Bromley Environmental Educational Centre at High Elms), to run arachnophobia courses and help those who are struggling with these phobias to learn, understand and trust these amazing animals. We are not licenced therapists and we do not perform any hypnotherapy but we will do all we can to encourage, ease and eliminate phobias and we have had great success with this!
How does the arachnophobia course work?
Our courses are held in our classroom at the BEECHE centre;
It starts with an introduction to our resident educational instructor Ellie or affectionally known as Spider who has worked with arachnids for over a decade.
We will go through a presentation on the cause of phobias, an introduction to arachnids including their behaviour and ecology.
When you are comfortable we will bring in our resident native spiders colin the Cellar Spider, Bluebell the False Widow and Dolly the House Spider. There you will have the opportunity to observe in a safe space and ease into seeing them up close and how to capture them in a comfortable environment.
The session will finish with meeting Willow our gorgeous Curly Haired Tarantula, nicknamed our golden girl. She has been assistance us with these sessions over five years and her calm slow and gentle manner has helped so many people feel in ease and comfort around arachnids.
