Our Home Education group welcomes children from the ages of 5-10 to take part every Tuesday to learn about the wonders of the our beautiful British wildlife. During this time they will have their own book and get to create their own booklet on wildlife and outdoor skills, from bird watching to tree identification to orienteering! They can attend as many or as little sessions as they wish, they will have the chance to develop  both soft and practical skills with a group limit as small as ten students to make a calm relaxing environment to learn.

Session Outline

Our Home Education group welcomes children from the ages of 5-10 to take part every Tuesday to learn about the wonders of the our beautiful British wildlife. During this time they will have their own book and get to create their own booklet on wildlife and outdoor skills, from bird watching to tree identification to orienteering! They can attend as many or as little sessions as they wish, they will have the chance to develop  both soft and practical skills with a group limit as small as ten students to make a calm relaxing environment to learn.

Session date and time

Every Tuesday at 10:00 – 11:30

Excluding half terms

The sessions will last for an hour and a half. We ask you to be considerate to other participants and aim to arrive as promptly as possible.

Session Price

£5.50 per child

All children need to be accompanied by an adult.

When booking, if you can write the age(s) of the child/children attending in the comment box that would be very useful in order for us to tailor the session more appropriately in advance. If numbers consequently allow then the group will be split into two age related groups, Curious Foxes (5-7) or Darwin’s apprentices (8-11). Thank you.

 

Please meet in the BEECHE centre.

For access to toilet facilities, please use the public toilets available at High Elms or BEECHE Centre  before or after the session. 

 

All equipment will be provided, as well as optional hand sanitiser.

With government guidance being regularly updated, we also need you to help keep BEECHE staff and other customers safe by abiding to government guidance as it applies to you at the time of the event that you are due to attend.

Directions and Parking

This event takes place in High Elms Country Park. The main car park is located on High Elms Road (near Shire Lane). You can follow the Brown Highway signs for High Elms Country Park.

If the main car park is full then exit the car park and turn left go down High Elms Road a further 200 metres and turn into the Golf Course Car Park, it is fine to park in this car park. Exit Golf Course Car Park through the barrier gate at the bottom of car park then follow path straight ahead, go past pond and you will find yourself on front lawns go straight across and you will find yourself by main car park.

Blue badge parking is available in front of the BEECHE building. To access this please access the park using the entrance off Shire Lane which is marked for deliveries and staff. At the cross roads turn left up the slope and you will see the BEECHE building at the top of the slope. Please be aware this entrance and car park is only for Blue Badge holders.

What to wear and other information

Some of the session will take place outside so please dress appropriately. Please wear boots, trainers or wellies (no ballet pumps).

The session will involve some walking, we will be sticking to paths that are suitable for buggies.
