This is a home education session with a special focus on the meadow habitat. Curious Foxes (5-7) and Darwin’s apprentices (8-11) will go to the meadow at the same time but will have different instructors to support them during the activities . Sessions begin in BEECHE’s Darwin room, High Elms, before heading out to the meadow.
In this session, children will:
- Learn about the meadow habitat and why it is important
- Discuss and consider the life cycles of the animals in the meadow
- Learn about the parts of plants
- learn about plant reproduction and seed dispersal (Darwin’s apprentices)
- Use scientific equipment
Teaching will be differentiated according to age, we will split the group according to age if numbers attending merit doing so.

Directions and Parking
This event takes place in High Elms Country Park. Please consider arriving by bus, the R8 and the 358 stop near the park, with the 358 alight at Farnborough village and walk down through St Giles church grounds and the field, cross Shire Lane to arrive at the Park.
The main car park is located on High Elms Road (near Shire Lane). You can follow the Brown Highway signs for High Elms Country Park.
Blue badge parking is available in front of the BEECHE building. To access this please access the park using the entrance off Shire Lane which is marked for deliveries and staff. At the cross roads turn left up the slope and you will see the BEECHE building at the top of the slope. Please be aware this entrance and car park is only for Blue Badge holders.
What to wear and other information
The session will take place outside so please dress appropriately. Please wear boots, trainers or wellies (No ballet pumps). The session will involve walking outdoors. please wear long sleeved trousers and tops.
